A couple of months ago a small article about illegal dumping of waste at the coast of Xghajra between Zabbar and Marsascala was posted on Indymedia Malta (www.malta.indymedia.org). Construction waste was being dumped in different spots in the large public and undeveloped space of Xghajra's coast and no authority has until now, made an effort to stop the illegal dumping. Trucks have only one road in which they can drive, to arrive in the rough terrain of the coast.

Attard has been developing at a fast rate, in this last recent years and the residents are now furious that one of the last open spaces in the area will be taken away. Will U.S. CONGRESS GIVE "RETROACTIVE IMMUNITY" to TELECOM INDUSTRY

 

It is not surprising the Telecom Industry wants "Retroactive Immunity" from at least forty law suits after they helped government spy on Americans’ personal phone calls, faxes and emails? But Not so obvious or discussed by major media is what happens to NSA’s millions of illegally collected emails, faxes and phone call information that belong to U.S. Citizens? Will that information be deleted or copied? Or Used In Court against Americans?

 

An art Exhibition of drawings by Jewish children who were imprisoned in the fortress-town of Terezin in Czech, is being displayed at Saint James Cavallier. Terezin was used as a ghetto and concentration camp by the Nazis, during the Second World War. These are some of the few drawings that are on display.

The environment NGOs Din l-Art Helwa, Flimkien għal-Ambjent Aħjar, Friends of the Earth (Malta), Gaia, Light Pollution Awareness Group, Nature Trust Malta and Ramblers Association of Malta welcome the decision taken by government to amend the DPA regulations and give a stronger voice to civil society in such issues. This falls in line with the Aarhus Convention and the promise of Government to give the public greater access to environmental information as well as the right of every citizen to voice his and her concern on issues affecting each one of us.

 

Ir-Realta' Journalist Collective has announced the publication of the 5th issue of its unbiased and controversial newspaper Ir-Realta'. The newspaper was involved in several problems such as threats and a libel case and thus it stopped being published, but due to the group's drastic internal reforms, it has succeeded to again start publishing the newspaper. On the campaign for Children's Rights, Human Rights & Children's Rights organizations consistently fail to speak about a Child's Right to Fathers violation experience; And, these organizations have not allow details of these experiences to be reviewed by the public.
The protectors of the Children's Rights to Fathers deserve to have information about this kind of violation reported by Human Rights & Children's Rights organizations. This petition is to inform Human Rights & Children's Rights organizations that they can't continue failing to record violations of a Child's Rights to Fathers.

Environment NGOs Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar (FAA) and Ramblers Association of Malta (RAM) protest strongly against further encroachment on the public right and ownership of the foreshore. This time the threat emanates from the building application submitted by Otters ASC of Marsalforn, Gozo.

Development in Marsascala has been going on rapidly and has claimed many areas of the natural environment. It seems that development projects will not decrease as ongoing suggestions for investment are not in short. Several politicians have claimed they are in favour of the erection of a new yacht marina in Marsacala and the mayor has claimed to be favourable but until now nobody has located a place for the idea.
